This black pilsner was inspired by both the German Schwarzbier style, and a Czech dark lager. The result is a slightly roasty, slightly bitter, crisp lager. The step mash creates a beer that balances the roastiness of a dark beer with the crispiness you'd expect from a pilsner. The use of cascade hops in the kettle adds a layer of brightness and a touch of North American flair to the European inspired brew.
